I have been on YouTube several times browsing for interesting content only to come across some really controversial subjects. The one in particular that I have come across many times asks the question: who created God? That is a good question. I have seen the old loop-around answers that never really weigh any real possibilities. We may never know for sure where God came from for sure, but I have outlined some things that I believe can help open the mind to this subject.
Some have said that God the Father also came from a Father. This is more formally known as the begotten theory. The begotten theory is as a genealogy line for the Gods. Well, if God had a Father would he not be a God as well? It wouldn’t make much sense for God to come from anything else but a God, if he was begotten. However, the begotten theory still doesn’t tell us anything. Sooner or later something had to have come from nothing or something was always there. God may have had a Father, but I am only concerned with the first God or the beginning of the totem pole. This beginning is what people are really seeking an explanation for.
We in the cause and effect universe know that every effect has to have a cause. One way or the other, God had to come from something, nothing, or he always was. As I just illustrated, nothing can come from nothing. If nothing can come from nothing, there has to have been something that always was. If there was not something that always was, we would not be here, because something cannot come from nothing. It just can’t happen. Who created God? We just established that God had to have come from something else entirely or he always was. The Bible actually declares that God always was or that he is one eternal round or that he is “from everlasting to everlasting” (Psalms 90: 2). If we take these saying to heart we would conclude that God was the thing that has always been, but has he always been the sophisticated being that he is today?
In part two, I will get into this in greater detail. And help to better answer the question: “who created God?
I have often heard people say that modern scientific theories have a diminishing effect on God the divine creator. Why? could it be because evolution appears to be contrary to account of the creation as recorded in the Bible’s book of Genesis. Could it be because people believe that naturally occurring processes in nature take away from the miraculous power of God? Whatever the reason, there has always been a tension visible between science and the nature of God.
I wish to express my love for both science and God. I believe that God is the master of science. He created all of the naturally occurring processes found in the universe. Thus allowing his matchless power to be seen all over the universe while being able to be a single entity of who’s image we are created (as stated in the Bible). We know that God is all knowing all powerful, and that he continues to expand the universe. We also know that God is a single entity. If God were not a single entity, we would not be created in his image.
I believe that science only supports the idea of a designer. Have you ever taken a biology class? Have you ever seen how many parts there are to a cell. There are literally millions of tiny parts and genetic codes that make up one single cell. These little miracles are pieced together ever so intricately. If one little thing was out of order in this small but still very complicated organism, the cell would not give way to life. I find it very hard to believe that even the most basic single celled organisms, that were said to be among the first life forms on this Earth, could still assemble all of that DNA code so perfectly, then piece together the nucleus, chromatin, ribosomes, mitochondria, microfilaments, lysosomes, and on and on, without some kind of an outside presence to put the pieces together so perfectly.
This is one of the many examples I will outline in the next few articles to come. Basically I will show you why you have a greater chance of winning the lottery 10 times in a row then you have of being alive without a God.
The last written content I posted described why the account of the creation in Genesis is so basic. It also touched on the time factor and how the elimination of the time factor as we know it, can allow for harmony between God, science, and all truth that we know.
If we remove the time factor from Genesis we can see that God is not limited to seven days in which to create the entire universe. In fact, where God is completely outside of time, he could literally do all the work for the creation of the universe and call the work periods days for our understanding. I believe this compliments evolution. I will explain further….
Ok, if God is all knowing and omnipotent, as the Bible declares him to be, then we have to conclude that God is outside of our time factor. We also have to conclude that God knows all things, even the things of the past and future. If God knows the events of the future, we now have to conclude that past, present, and future are all in front of God. If past present and future are all in front of God they may all be the same reality, or God can go back in time to alter the future to his will. This would certainly support the character traits of the God that is revealed throughout the scriptures.
If God can change the past to alter the future we can see that God would be able to start very small processes millions of years ago, and he would be able to make little tweaks and changes here and there throughout time, popping in and making those changes while having the finish product in front of him as well. This would certainly support the natural processes that God has set up all over the world and universe to do his will on complete autopilot over periods of millions of years. This natural process, even though it seems like millions of years to us, could have the actual manual labor performed in, oh….I don’t know, a single day. Thus making evolution and creationism the exact same thing, with the exception that God created the process of evolution, and evolution was not created by chance. When we take away the time factor we open up many different possibilities. I explain all this in detail in my book with the added scripture references to support all my claims. I will be writing another part to this article so keep reading!
